Project Begins

This light is made of aluminum and is just under 3 feet tall.. When it was functioning as a working traffic light it was mounted on some sort of pole.It wasn't hanging from any wires.

OK-First, lets strip this light down.Eveyrthing comes out.
  • Light fixtures
  • lenses
  • electrical connection block
  • gaskets
I only need a screw driver, a 7/16 wrench and some
wire cutters.

Now it only takes removing 3 nuts for each section

 to break them apart

Clean and then sand any chips in paint or wire brush any flaking paint chips

Now I give all three sections a base coat of black and at least two coats of school bus yellow from ace hardware

Now to re-assemble the sections

Back out to the wall for another coat of yellow

   Ahhh-Thats looking better
I Think this is the easy part of the restoration..

You might be wondering about the missing visor for the green light. I'm not going to put one on.I think this is how it was when it was functioning as a working light so i will keep it the same.
The first phase of the traffic light restoration is complete, now we will move on to assembling the electronics and installing them.
